YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 BLACK/RED LAUNCH (RECAP)
This past weekend saw the local sneaker culture emerge themselves into the world of high in demand footwear launches. With YEEZY x adidas on their mind, customers quickly set up camp outside the amongst few flagship store, poised ready for a two day wait for a pair of YEEZY boost 350 'Core Black/Red' sneakers.
The first buyers seemed extremely dedicated, arriving at the store Thursday evening (6pm) for a Saturday 10am release. Armed with camping chairs, sleeping bags and an array of food the first half dozen campers were in high spirits and full of conversation. Fast forward to the first 24 hours and the line quickly turned from the initial 6 to close to 40 people from all over the UAE. The customers all gathered outside the flagship store in the hope of bagging themselves a pair of Kanye and adidas's latest collaboration.
Working alongside adidas Originals Middle East, amongst few put in an early verbal request to be made exempt from the standard raffle, app and competition policy, instead opting to release the debut 2017 YEEZY boost drop in-store the traditional way (first come first serve). While trying to make the lines safe amongst giving customers a fair chance at purchasing a pair, rules and regulations were put in place. The list included first come, first serve, only your actual size could be purchased, tags to be removed and discarded by amongst staff (verbal permission requested) and lastly only one shoe per person.
As Saturday morning arrived the stores doors became a temporary home for a swarming sea of YEEZY boost fans hoping to get there pair. As 10am hit, the first customer was invited inside to the sound of cheers and claps from the rest of the line. A few minutes later walking out in his new 'Bred' 350's to a roaring crowd. Within the next hour all sizes were sold out and the release had come to end, successfully bringing together a great mix of the old and young.
